Concept:
What would a chef/cook use the GPS for?
(Does the ancient art of cooking have anything
to do with sophisticated satellites? We soon discovered…)
Interviews with several chefs revealed to us that their success often
rested on their ability to dish out rare and unusual meals at a short
notice. The chefs needed to be liberated from their reliance
on suppliers who at their best could only deliver
some of the special ingredients they needed. Often the chefs were not
assured of quality as well.
And what is more varied and delicate than fish? From our interviews it
became evident that it was quite difficult
to get rare and exotic fish from around the
world. We developed a system called the “fish
tracker”,
which enables chefs to locate, track and monitor the movement of fish
from any part of the world. But this system could be used for any other
ingredient as well.
Salient features of the "Fish Tracker" :
- Ensures quality
by tracking produce through its distribution cycle.
- Alerts chefs to adverse conditions such as temperature
anomalies, delays and possible deterioration
during transport.
- Gives chefs greater certainty of the quality
of their delicacies, allowing them to order foods they may not have done
before.
- Helps large kitchen operations comply with relevant
health and safety requirements.
