WorkTech 06, British Library, November 2006
Worktech 06, the 3rd annual coference looking at the convergence of technology and real estate, held at the British Library, showcased the Little Brinkland project, alongside other exhibits.

Futurescapes of Work: A documentary from 2012, September 2006
What will the world of work look as populations age, natural resources diminish and new technologies liberate us from the fixed office? The fictional neighbourhood Little Brinkland, set approximately in the year 2012 suggests some clues. Yellow Chair San Jose dot net, August 2006
A house on the intersection of 10th and St John (San Jose, California) is offering free WiFi to neighbours and passersby from a yellow chair outside, becoming one node for a city network. A second yellow chair is roaming the open public hotspots downtown, where people are asked to share there music, pictures, movies, questions and viewpoints, with the first chair across the city... Come along... 'Yellow Chair San Jose' is live at ISEA 2006, from 7th to 13th August.
Sketch-a-Move
at Ubicomp 2006, Orange County, July 2006
A collaboration with Matthiaz Kranz et al at LMU, Munich has lead to the development of fantastical (!) working prototypes of the Sketch-a-Move toy cars. The new video of the project to be presented at Ubicomp, Orange County, September 2006.

Design and Wanderlust, May 2006
I am off to the give two talks at the Research Group Embedded Interaction, LMU, University of Munich. One is titled "Hardware. Software. Humanware". In this talk I discuss a 'people-centered approach to the design of technologies'. ( I know it does not sound very innovative, but hopefully I have a meaty presentation for the computer scientists at LMU.) The other one is titled "Design and Wanderlust", where I am going to talk about cinema, interaction design, fiction and digress into the world of nomadic traveling...

1. California Calling: ISEA 2006!
Following the UNESCO Award for the 'Yellow Chair Stories' last year, the second phase of the project, titled 'Yellow Chair San Jose' in collaboration with Tom Jenkins, has been selected for Interactive City, ISEA 2006 +ZERO ONE SAN JOSE Festival, August 2006.
2. Reclaim the Spectrum, Zemos98, Spain
José Luis de Vicente has curated 'Reclaim the Spectrum', for ZEMOS98, showcasing works in the Hertzian Space, which anticipate a political and social debate somewhere between utopia and subversion. 'Yellow Chair Stories' is showcased alongside Usman Haque's 'Sky Ear', Jonah Brucker-Cohen's 'Wifi-Hog', and Michelle Teran's 'Life: A User's Manual'.

Sunlight Table in the O'Reilly book 'Makers:', February 2006
'Holy workspace' is how Bob Parks refers to the fibre optic sunlight table in his book 'Makers:' Published by O'Reilly Media, the Makers of Make magazine, the book celebrates the desire to tinker, tweak and hack. It reveals a unique collection of 100 makers with their DIY / technology / design projects from all over the world in a great publication.

UNESCO Digital Arts Award, October 2005
A proposal to take the 'Yellow Chair Stories' project into a second phase and place it in a wider context of urban life has been awarded the 3rd prize in the UNESCO Digital Art Awards competition. 242 projects were submitted under the theme of 'urban play and locative media'. 
Dorkboting on 19th October, 2005

Sunlight Table at InnovationRCA, 2005
InnovationRCA organised a major exhibition of graduate innovations at the Royal College of Art, to coincide with the London Design Festival. The Sunlight Table exhibited for 15 days before finding its new home in Oxford. 10am to 6pm, 27th September to 12th October 2005.
